P. aeruginosa is a gram-negative, non-fermenting rod. The associated high mortality makes P. aeruginosa one of the most important pathogens causing healthcare associated infections. Although the multidrug-resistant P. aeruginosa is prevalent, the resistance of carbapenem has not been increasing. It causes bloodstream infections, pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections, and urinary tract infections.
